BlackBerry manufacturer Research In Motion has launched an online version of App World, the smartphone manufacturer’s mobile application store. Previously only accessible using a BlackBerry handset, the online portal allows BlackBerry users and enthusiasts to more easily browse the growing catalog and discover new applications from the comfort of their desktops.

In its beta release, the online portal doesn’t allow for applications to be purchased or downloaded directly. Instead, once a user discovers an application they wish to download, they can choose to have a link sent to an email account linked to their handset. The link will then direct users to either complete the purchase or download the application.

App World’s online portal can be found at http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/.
