After months of waiting and a few false alarms, Verizon has officially announced that Motorola DROID users will at long last be able to enjoy the unrivaled joys of an Android 2.1 phone as they join in boisterous cheers of “droidddddd.” As anticipated, the update will bring the DROID pinch-to-zoom support, voice-to-text capabilities, new news and weather widgets and more. The update will even be delivering the Nexus One’s cool (if a tad bit gimmicky) live wallpapers — previously only a pipe dream for DROID owners. Check out Verizon’s full run down [below] of all the goodies 2.1 has to offer.
