A few weeks ago, there was an unproven conspiracy theory on how 5G towers were linked to the COVID-19 outbreak. The source of the rumor was an actor who shared a previous report made by Martin Pall, a Washington State University professor. In Pall’s report, he linked the growing number of 5G base stations in Wuhan, which is coincidentally the same place where the coronavirus pandemic started.
Because of the conspiracy theory, many could not help but react to the report and even connect the two together. This led to several 5G towers in China and the U.K. to be vandalized. And with the coming of the 5G Global Protest Day on Saturday, June 6th, there are reports that some 5G towers are being planned for attack.
This report comes from trade group NATE, who shared on its blog:
“NATE as an organization has heard through official channels that there are 5G Global Protest Day activities being planned throughout the country this Saturday, June 6, 2020. NATE member companies set themselves apart by embodying the characteristics of work ethic, professionalism, safety, and quality on a daily basis. NATE reminds our member companies and their employees to remain safe, exercise vigilance and report any unusual or suspicious activities that they may witness when traveling to and working at tower sites this weekend.”
In addition to this, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has also issued a warning for police to be vigilant against such attacks. Ericsson has announced that they will be pausing work on its 5G cell sites in the country this weekend. Both T-Mobile and AT&T have told their employees to be careful while working around the vicinity of their towers as well.
Regulatory and health related agencies in both the U.S. and U.K. have repeatedly said that there is no such connection between 5G signals and the ongoing health crisis.
