AT&T is rolling out a new feature that uses artificial intelligence to automatically manage your home internet based on how you actually use it. Called Wi-Fi Personalization, the service learns when you're working from home, gaming, or streaming movies and adjusts your network to give priority to whatever activity matters most at that moment.
The feature works through AT&T's Smart Home Manager app, where you can manually set priorities for different activities like work video calls, online gaming, or streaming services.
As announced earlier, AT&T lets the AI handle everything on its own, learning your household's patterns over time and making adjustments automatically. The system figures out when you typically need the fastest speeds and optimizes accordingly, all while keeping your data stored locally on your gateway instead of in the cloud.
AT&T says early testing shows customers are seeing better overall Wi-Fi performance and reduced lag on their most important activities. The company claims Wi-Fi Personalization is the first AI-powered personalized home internet service available.
The feature is available at no extra charge for All-Fi Pro customers and AT&T customers who bundle their fiber and wireless services together. To get started, you just open the Smart Home Manager app and either set your preferences manually or let the AI learn your habits automatically. AT&T Fiber currently serves over 10 million customers nationwide.
