AT&T and Pixar teamed up this week to offer students a real taste of movie magic alongside valuable tech skills—all inspired by Pixar's latest film, Elio.
The big telecom brought a select group of students from its Connected Learning Centers (CLCs) to Pixar studios. There, the kids got to try out virtual reality demos, meet animation pros, and watch exclusive Elio footage. In Los Angeles, students from the Salvadoran American Leadership and Educational Fund (SALEF) - an AT&T CLC - joined the blue-carpet premiere, where a former CLC student, Gia Duarte, even worked as a student reporter, interviewing classmates on the blue carpet.
What's the point? Through hands-on workshops and film screenings, AT&T is helping students learn skills beyond textbooks—creating excitement around science, art, and storytelling. The themes of Elio (finding where you belong and connecting with others) echo what AT&T is aiming for in real life: closing the digital gap and boosting confidence. And that makes this more than just a fun outing—it's part of a larger mission.
The star of the show is Elio, the story of an earth youngster who ends up representing our planet in a galactic council. Pixar's film, hitting theaters June 20, brings imaginative animation and heartwarming themes about friendship and belonging.
