It’s another day and another Google Pixel 6 issue.
Right now, there are reports of some users having problems charging their Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro units. But according to the complaints on Google’s forums, the problem may be because of the quality of the cables that they are using.
The report says that the Pixel 6 is not charging on “certain chargers and cables.” This is because there are other devices that continue to charge on those chargers and cables. Using a generic USB-C cable and charger doesn’t seem to be working on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
The original poster on the forum shared that most of the chargers they were trying to use were not USB PD compliant. This means that these were likely low-quality cables and/or charging bricks. Other users chimed in on this and shared that their Pixel 6 was rejecting charging from these generic chargers and cables too.
Google, however, shares that this doesn’t come as a surprise. On its support page, Google already shared that these phones “might not work” with some cables. The likely reason behind this is to protect potential damage that could arise from using slow chargers and cables that do not meet the standards of USB-C.
This problem could have easily been prevented if only Google included a charger in its box. So if you are affected by this issue, the best thing to do here is to get yourself a quality charger and cable.
