Just a few days ago, Samsung unveiled its first ever foldable smartphone called the Galaxy Fold. But it looks like it could be getting its first competitor real soon.
With the much anticipated Mobile World Congress (MWC) event happening next week, smartphone manufacturers are already generating hype for their specific devices set to reveal in the event. One such manufacturer, Huawei, has already started to tease the public with the world’s “first foldable 5G phone”, called the Huawei Mate X.
Prior to today’s news, very little was known about this device. But Huawei has went ahead to change that by putting up a huge poster of the device in Barcelona, the venue for MWC.
Looking at the poster, it can be presumed that the Huawei Mate X will have one display that users can fold in half. By making it this way, users can opt to use the device just like a regular smartphone. The only difference is that it contains a curved edge on the left side and a screen on the rear. The poster also shows that the Mate X has a slightly thicker area on its right side. When folded, this space aligns with the display perfectly.
It is presumed that this area on the back of the phone is where Huawei will be adding its triple-camera configuration. This is the same setup found on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
After its MWC unveiling, Huawei could be releasing the device by summer. As for its pricing, there is no update on how much the Mate X will cost yet.
