This is the most popular 5G device in the US right now

Now that there are plenty of different 5G models available in the market, it’s time to figure out which ones of these people enjoy using the most. Thankfully, this is what Ookla and research firm M Science focused on in their latest study. And as they discovered, the US is actually a nation of iPhone users. 

The two researchers turned into usage and sales numbers for 5G devices in the country to determine the most popular 5G device. And according to their research, the most popular 5G phone in 49 out of 50 states is the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The only deviance out of the US states is Vermont, which marks the iPhone 12 Pro as the most popular 5G device.  

Out of the different models available, the top five most popular 5G phones are:

  1. iPhone 12 Pro Max

  2. iPhone 12 

  3. iPhone 12 Pro

  4. Samsung Galaxy S20+

  5. Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra

Coincidentally, the study also found that the least popular 5G devices (in this order) are the LG Wing 5G, TCL 10 5G UW, OnePlus Nord N10, Motorola Edge+, and Nokia 8 V 5G UW. 

The study also discovered that from the iPhone 12 lineup, the iPhone 12 mini is the least popular model.

The two companies used slightly different data sets. M Science tracked sales and derived sales figures up to January 23rd. Meanwhile, Ookla looked at the usage of its Speedtest app on the phones of consumers and derived data for tests conducted in January.
