AT&T appears ready to give its phone plan lineup a major overhaul after staying relatively quiet for several years. According to a Reddit post from someone claiming inside knowledge of the company's plans, the wireless carrier will introduce three refreshed versions of its Unlimited Your Way options starting March 12. The changes represent the first real shake-up in AT&T's core offerings in quite some time.
As reported by Android Authority, the company plans to replace its Starter tier with a new Value 2.0 plan while updating its Extra and Premium tiers as well. The move suggests AT&T is trying to better organize its pricing structure, combining what were previously separate budget and value options into a single entry-level choice.
The new Value 2.0 plan will be the wallet-friendly option, running $50 for a single line or dropping to $30 per line if you sign up for four lines. You get unlimited calling, texting, and data across the US, Canada, and Mexico, along with 5GB of premium data before the carrier starts slowing things down. The plan includes 3GB of hotspot data monthly, standard definition streaming, and access to AT&T's ActiveArmor security service. International texting to over 200 countries is also included.
Moving up the ladder, Extra 2.0 costs $70 for one line (down $5 from the current Extra plan) or about $40 per line for four-line accounts. This tier bumps you up to 100GB of premium data and 50GB of hotspot access each month, plus it enables full HD streaming quality instead of standard definition.
At the top sits Premium 2.0, priced at $90 for individuals or as low as $55 per line on a four-line plan. Interestingly, solo customers will pay $5 more than they do now, while families actually save about $5 per line. You get unlimited premium data, 100GB of hotspot access monthly, 4K ultra HD streaming, and a 50% discount on smartwatch or tablet plans.
The real question for customers is whether these adjustments actually amount to savings or simply reorganized pricing. AT&T isn't revealing everything yet—the company hasn't published details about how five-line plans will be priced, which matters significantly for larger families trying to figure out their final bill. The shift does consolidate AT&T's budget tier more clearly, but whether that helps or hurts your wallet depends entirely on which lines you currently use and how much data you actually need.
All of this remains unofficial until AT&T makes a formal announcement, but if the March 12 launch date holds, customers should have clarity very soon.
