The smartphone industry has become experimental and adventurous these days. Just this year, various manufacturers unveiled their plans of releasing a foldable device. Now, it looks like Samsung is not stopping at a foldable smartphone.
Earlier, there were reports of a couple of innovative devices that Samsung intends to reveal in the future. The first is a smartphone with a rotating camera, which appears to be slated for a US release real soon.
The second smartphone is an unconfirmed patent leak of what appears to be a bendable phone that users can wear on their wrist. Here’s a closer look at these two devices Samsung has lined up:
Last month, Samsung unveiled a new smartphone called the Samsung Galaxy A90. This smartphone became famous for featuring a pop-up selfie camera. But it appears that Samsung is making this camera do more than just pop-up. There are reports that this camera also features a rotating mechanism.
The report was first revealed on Twitter by popular leaker, @OnLeaks. It is also said to be equipped with a powerful 48-megapixel sensor.
Initially, this smartphone is believed to launch in China only. But reports from PhoneArenashow that it could be coming to Europe real soon, along with the Galaxy A40 and Galaxy A20e. In further reports, it appears that the Galaxy A90 may be coming to the U.S. shores as seen on Samsung’s official US website. The device is said to be available as part of a new gaming deal.
In other news, a new patent leak shows Samsung’s plans of releasing a phone that can bend and be worn on the wrist. Unlike its Galaxy Fold device that folds horizontally, Samsung’s latest patent shows a device that can be bent vertically.
The mechanism behind this is due to a specially-designed hinge and flexible display that will be included in the device. As a result, the phone can be used as a regular device and can be worn like a smartwatch whenever the user is on the go. The phone also comes with a special lock mechanism on the back that locks the device in place.
In addition to a bendable form, this device is said to come with a dual-camera configuration on the back and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
As of this writing, this device is purely a patent and there’s no actual guarantee that it will ever be released by Samsung. It is, however, interesting to see them play around with the idea of such a device.
