After the first report in January, there hasn’t been any update to T-Mobile’s plans to acquire Mint Mobile. But today, the Un-carrier has made things official with a new announcement: the acquisition will be pushing through.
Aside from the press release, T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert appeared on a video alongside Mint Mobile owner, Ryan Reynolds, to formally make the announcement. They will be acquiring Mint Mobile and its other companies, Ultra Mobile and Plum!
Ever since Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile started, they have been running on T-Mobile’s network, which will make this acquisition a smooth experience for the owners and the customers too. Sievert promises they will be continuing Mint’s $15/month pricing. At the same time, Reynolds promised that their creative branding will remain intact, despite the acquisition.
The founders of the brand, David Glickman and Rizwan Kassim, will continue to be managing them since they will operate separately from T-Mo.
Following this announcement, the acquisition will be reviewed by the regulatory board before the deal is closed. T-Mo expects this to be completed by the end of the year.
