How would you like to never receive a spam or scam text ever again? That would be a dream, right? But despite the many scam shields and crackdowns being done, there are still a few that manage to get through. Fortunately, T-Mobile has a new strategy of reducing these texts.
Just before the year ends, T-Mobile announced a gift to its subscribers. As spotted by Cord Cutters News, T-Mobile will be imposing a fine on third-party organizations that send a scam, spam, and illegal text using its network. This puts marketing companies, like Vonage, at risk of being fined.
Although we cannot expect such texts to be forever gone from our devices, this new rule may just help minimize the volume that customers receive. Most likely, Vonage will implement stricter measures on who the companies they work with so they can avoid getting fined.
The fine that T-Mobile has imposed ranges from $500 to $2,000, depending on the category of the text.
Tier 1: For phishing, smishing, and social engineering ($2,000)
Tier 2: For illegal content ($1,000)
Tier 3: For all other violations ($500)
Hopefully, this will help a lot.
