Verizon is getting ready to launch its 5G Ultra Wideband network in areas of New York City. The announcement was made earlier this week by Verizon. According to Big Red, they will be rolling out 5G on September 26th.
New York will be the 11th US city that Verizon covers with its 5G millimeter wave technology. It will join the list of other areas where 5G signal is available, such as Atlanta, Denver, Chicago, Minneapolis, Detroit, Indianapolis, Washington, D.C, St. Paul, Phoenix, and Providence. The specific areas in New York where users can experience Verizon’s 5G network include Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx.
As of this writing, Verizon offers four devices that are come with 5G network support:
LG V50 ThinQ - $999.99
Motorola Moto Z4 (with a Moto Mod) - $499.99
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G - $1,299.99
Samsung Galaxy S10 5G - $1,299.99
Verizon will be charging a $10 monthly surcharge to its unlimited data plans to access 5G. For a limited time period, however, Verizon is waiting that fee if you activate service on a new 5G phone with one of their three plans that start at $80 per individual line.
The September 26 rollout is just one of the many that Verizon has in store for the year as they intend to improve 5G network coverage to more than 30 cities before the end of the year, and over 50 percent of the U.S. by 2020.
