Verizon has scored a $6.6 billion deal with Samsung.
The deal allows Samsung to provide network equipment to Verizon in order to boost its 5G network. According to the regulatory filing, the South Korean manufacturer will be the one to install and maintain 5G equipment for the wireless provider.
The order runs from June 30, 2020 to December 31, 2025. It was finalized last Friday, September 4, 2020. Samsung, however, did not reveal how much of the contract is involved with the 5G network equipment.
In a statement, a representative for Samsung said:
“With this latest long-term strategic contract, we will continue to push the boundaries of 5G innovation to enhance mobile experiences for Verizon’s customers.”
A spokesperson for Verizon also shared:
“Samsung has demonstrated their commitment to collaborating with us to drive innovation in 5G and we are excited to expand our relationship with them and benefit from a long-term strategic agreement.”
