The LG G Flex 2 is the first Android device equipped with the powerful 64-bit Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. Combined with its 1.5 GHz Quad-Core Cortex A53 and 2 GHz Quad-Core Cortex A57 CPU, the phone comes as a truly responsive and smooth gadget. But apart from its processor, the G Flex 2 is a device that has been built with a bend and curve. The result is a more ergonomic feel when looking at its 5.5-inch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Running on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, users can enjoy the latest apps and games on the G Flex 2. Available with a couple of powerful cameras, users can take their pick with either the 13MP camera on the rear with a full HD video recording capability or the front-facing 2.1MP camera suitable for video calls and taking selfie shots. Available with a built-in storage capacity of 32 GB, the G Flex 2 can store a number of files, photos, videos, and audio tracks on its memory. But if that’s not enough, the memory can be expanded by up to 128 GB through the help of a microSD card. The phone is available in Platinum Silver or Flamenco Red.
The designers of the new LG G Flex 2 have successfully attempted to correct the failures of the original model. One of the main problems with the first G Flex was it's size. Its bulkiness made it awkward to handle and use. The new LG G Flex has a sleek, curved shape that actually serves a purpose. The 720p display panel did little to impress consumers compared to the new 1080p crystal-clear display panel. The integration of the newest Snapdragon 810 Processor with 2.0 GHz 64-bit Octa-Core CPU from Qualcomm delivers the speed and smooth multitasking capabilities consumers crave. Doing the things that matter the most like web browsing, video, graphics and photos can now be done faster than ever. And although LG has had a bit of a hard time making a name for itself in the Android phone market, they have managed to outdo themselves with the new LG G Flex 2.
The LG G Flex 2 has a sleek, curved design that is as pleasing to the eyes as it is hold. Unlike the G Flex, it's much easier to handle and use. It's important to remember, however, that it still won't fit comfortably in the pockets of most jeans and pants. Nevertheless, it's much easier to hold while making calls and watching videos. It currently comes in two colors: flamenco red and platinum silver. At 5.87 inches tall and 2.96 inches wide, it is much smaller than the previous version. It's also 0.37 inches thick and only weighs 5.36 ounces. This makes it about 15 percent lighter than its predecessor.
The curved design of the LG G Flex 2 is for more than just looks. It can actually stand up to a good bit of abuse and mishandling. The curved ends of it can be pushed down until it straightens out when it's facing upward. When it's is facing downward, it can be pushed down, or even stepped on. The end result when the pressure is released is the same in both instances; it returns to its original shape without any harm being done to it.
The battery door is covered with a glossy safeguarding layer that can stand up to everyday abuses that might cause scrapes and scuffs on less endowed phone battery coverings.
LG has designed a revolutionary and beautifully curved 5.5” HD P-OLED screen that is so carefully created for navigating and watching videos it can be mesmerizing. The G Flex had a 720p resolution screen that was less than satisfying for most users. The G Flex 2 has been upgraded with a 1080p screen that delivers crystal-clear images, video and text. Even though the screen's size has been decreased from 6 inches to 5.5 inches, the pixel density has been increased to 403ppi. The Gorilla Glass touchscreen is also 20 percent stronger due to the internal chemical treatment. The responsive nature of the screen is a notable improvement compared to its predecessors. It's easily viewable in bright sunlight when the screen's brightness has been adjusted to its highest level and also when it's turned at an angle.
Camera & Video Quality
Even in less than ideal lighting conditions, the G Flex 2's camera produces sharp, clear and true-to-life images. It's the Laser AutoFocus that's responsible for this. LaserAF utilizes the same kind of technology found in laser beam range meters that are used in the construction and interior design industries. This technology calculates precise image measurements of objects and people regardless of the distance, producing high quality pictures. The incorporated IOS+ (Optical Image Stabilization) technology significantly reduces the effects of unstable camera movements, adding to the clarity of images. With the Gesture Shot & View feature, you can easily take “selfies” by activating the 3-second timer when the camera is facing forward with a simple gesture like a slight movement of your hand. Then you can just tilt the camera downwards and away from your face to quickly inspect your photographs.
Shooting video with the G Flex 2 is just as easy and precise. The camera is designed to accurately capture both moving images and still ones. Both the front and rear cameras are capable of recording video in HD quality. Along with the camera's rear 4K camcorder shooting capabilities, the front facing camera is equipped with a 2.1 MegaPixel HD video recording capacity. If there is a need to take pictures while recording on either camera, the recording can be paused and pictures can be taken in quick continuation. You can easily switch between each camera simply by swiping the screen. With the dual camera mode feature, you can also record videos or take pictures with both cameras simultaneously. Sound is clear, with background noises reduced to a minimum, thanks to the accuracy of the cameras coupled with the advanced capabilities of the integrated Snapdragon 810 Processor.
Sound Quality of Calls
Although there are bound to be some exceptions, calls are generally clear and steady with no static or interruptions. When the audio speaker is activated, it may sound distorted at times. However, this is true for almost all mobile phone speakers due to the size of their audio grills. For the most part, speaker quality is above average compared to a lot of mobile devices, and the opposite end can be clearly heard even at arms length away from the ear.
The battery itself is equipped with 3000 mAH. Although the G Flex had a 3500 mAH capacity, LG has insisted that battery performance has improved as a whole. The Fast Charge feature allows you to charge the battery from 0% to 50% in just about 40 minutes. Even though this is impressive, it still doesn't take away from the fact that the capacity of the battery is less than its predecessor’s.
The G Flex 2 comes with the usual standard software such as Google Drive, Google Maps, Gmail, Google Chrome, Google Hangouts and Google Play Store. Its operating system is the Android 5.0 Lollipop. LG's user interface is blanketed on top of the Android OS. One of its more noticeable software features is called Smart Notice. This software is similar to a personal digital assistant. It notifies users of weather alerts, marked calendar events, missed calls and apps that might need to be deleted after going unused for long stretches of time. GlanceView is another notable application. This lets you check for important information like the date, time and missed alerts without bringing the phone out of sleep mode.
Wifi 802.11 and Bluetooth Version 4.1 come installed on the G Flex 2. Its total internal memory includes 32 GB of storage space. It also supports microSDHC cards that can store up to 2TB, but these are sold separately.
It's important to have the latest in cell phone technology to enjoy the latest innovations, features and software available on the market. That being said, there are more pros to owning this new mobile device than cons.
