As indicated by images leaked by China based smartphone repair website Rock Fix, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 7 device could have room for a couple of SIM cards. As reported by Engadget, the proprietor of Rock Fix posted the photos themselves, but he did not share how he was able to acquire those images.
An iPhone that comes with dual SIM configuration will prove to be useful for certain iOS mobile users. By providing support for two separate phone numbers and mobile profiles, a dual SIM iPhone will surely come in handy for those who frequently travel to other countries. Such a set up will also no doubt provide flexibility to those users who prefer to have two different SIM cards for their personal use and business or professional use.
It bears noting that through various iterations of its smartphone offering over almost a decade now, Apple has never released an iPhone model that can carry more than one SIM card. But in light of its recent sales struggles (numbers are likely to decrease again this quarter), the tech company may have been compelled to equip its upcoming iPhone 7 device with various new features in order to get consumers to feel excitement again about its latest flagship handset.
The iPhone 7 is expected to be officially announced later this year, and although the moment of unveiling is still several months away, there has been no shortage of rumors and leaks pertaining to the highly anticipated device. There was talk that it might get rid of the 3.5 millimeter audio jack in favor of piping sound via the Lightning port. But a leaked image from Rock Fix contradicts that idea. The possibility of the audio jack’s removal has already caused a stir among iPhone users -- quite simply, they do not want to go through all that hassle of purchasing adapters or replacing their existing headphones in order to be compatible with the Lightning port.
Another rumored feature is that the iPhone 7 will come with dual cameras, and the leaked images from Rock Fix support this notion. Moreover, the images also show SanDisk memory chips that come with 256 gigabytes capacity. Could this mean that Apple is going to release an iPhone that sports built in memory of 256 gigabytes (also speculated) for the first time?
But we have all been here before. Rumors are no guarantee of the real thing, but speculation does create buzz for something that has yet to see the light of day. For Apple, it wisely bids its time, while its fans try their best to stay patient for now.
