Apple will be introducing the newest iPhone models on September 9th Wednesday at an event to be held at the city of San Francisco, California. Invitations for the event have already been sent out, bearing a statement that teases: “Hey Sirim, give us a hint.” Since September has traditionally been considered the month for new iPhones, everyone can safely assume that Apple will be unveiling the latest iterations of its best selling mobile device tomorrow.
Although it is not 100 percent certain yet, one can bet that a new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are just waiting to be officially announced. When Apple introduced the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus last year, the tech giant launched a worthy iOS running answer to the growing number of phablets (big screened smartphones) being offered by Android. Although Apple was a bit late in joining in on the phablet party, it more than made up for it by posting record sales numbers for the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. The company is hoping to extend its winning streak with the launch of the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus. But is there going to be an iPhone 6C? There have been rumors that a 4 inch iPhone 6C will also be unveiled on September 9th. At this point, anything is possible, although a smaller iPhone in the age of phablets may not be likely.
But what to expect of the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus though? The new models will probably still keep the metallic and round edge aesthetic. Although considering the Bendgate issue last year, Apple may be making sure to offer a sturdier metal body this time. Rumors surfaced a month ago that Apple is shifting to the 7000 series aluminum, which is stronger despite its lighter quality.
As for the hardware components, the latest iPhones may feature a faster A9 processor, as well as other upgraded chipsets. The iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus are also expected to have their random access memory (RAM) expanded to 2 gigabytes. There is also talk of bigger camera sensors for the newest models. Apple has always highlighted the image capturing capabilities of its iPhone devices, and continuing to improve in that area will make a lot of sense for the company going forward. Thus, the rear camera is expected to feature a 12 megapixel sensor, supporting 4K video recording, while the front camera will also have its sensor enhanced.
Features wise, one of the things Apple fans are getting excited about is Force Touch. This is a type of technology that allows pressure sensitive interactions with the iPhone’s display screen. The tech is already available on the Apple Watch and Macbook trackpads, and soon, mobile users will be enjoying it on the latest iPhones. And considering Siri, Apple’s digital assistant, has a starring role in the event’s invitations, industry watchers and casual fans alike can expect an upgrade or two for the service. Of course, Apple has always been known to be a good keeper of secrets, so there might be a few more unexpected surprises tomorrow.
