How often do you forget (or lose) your cell phone stand? Here in the office we have a wonderful little ball suction cup stand for our cell phones, except due to it's size, we can never find it when we need it! Laying the phone flat can lead to distortion or a glare, and leaning it against something can work, but when we make that attempt our phones always seems to slide down. So what now? We had a large paperclip sitting on our desk, and realized we could probably morph that into something usable! We then spent a few minutes scouring our desks to see what other items we could re-purpose! Thankfully there were several promising candidates!
Below we are using:
1. Loyalty Card: We have many loyalty cards laying in our wallets that we simply do not use or need. It requires 2 small folds. Lay the card horizontally. You'll make one fold on the left, an inch and a half in, and on the right about half an inch in
2. Paper Clip: Bend a large paperclip in 2 places, one bringing the smaller inside upright at a 90° angle, then bend up a small portion of the piece laying flat, about .5". You'll have to adjust the bends based on your specific phone.
3. Binder Clips: We've used 2 rather large binder clips, about 2" wide. A phone can lean against one clip sitting on the table, but multiple can be combined in a variety of ways to create both a horizontal and vertical stand.
4. Post-It: This is probably the easiest solution and should work for virtually every phone. Simply pull back a number of Post-It notes, and lay your phone against it. Depending on your phone and the Post-It size you may be able to stand it both vertically and horizontally. You can also use one Post-It as a speaker amplifier for your phone or tablet.
This is just the tip of the iceberg! We couldn't find any rubber bands, but we think that would allow for a number of additional stands. The bottom line is there are many everyday items that can be used as a cell phone stand. Get creative!
