Cell Phone Comparisons
Nexus One vs. DROID Eris

Wirefly Learn » Resources » Cell Phone Comparisons

March 16th, 2010

Key Differences

  • Price: While not available from Wirefly at this time, the Nexus One is available on contract directly from Google for $179. Currently, the DROID Eris is available from Wirefly for FREE.  Users not requiring the additional power provided by the Nexus One may find the cost savings a deciding factor.
  • User interface: The HTC Droid Eris has HTC’s custom user interface called Sense built on top of Android, while the Nexus One has the standard Android interface. HTC’s Sense interface offers a number of advanced customization options for the DROID Eris, including more home screens than the DROID, custom widgets, and the ability to change the layout and icons on the home screens depending on what the user is doing.
  • Power: The Nexus One has a faster processor and more RAM than the DROID Eris, making it a more powerful smartphone. Particularly when multitasking, users of the Nexus One may notice a faster, smoother experience when compared to the DROID Eris.
  • Display: The Nexus One has a large and high resolution display (3.7-in., WVGA 800×480 pixels), while the HTC DROID Eris has a somewhat smaller, lower resolution display (3.2-inch, 320×480 pixels).
  • Storage Space: Right out of the box, the DROID Eris has 8GB (upgradeable to 32GB) of on-board storage space for music, video and more thanks to a pre-installed microSD card. The Nexus One has only a 4GB microSD card pre-installed (also upgradeable to 32GB). That’s twice the space on the DROID Eris.
