Activating a cell phone can be different from buying other electronics such as a TV or computer. For orders that include new wireless service or a contract extension, you are not just getting a cell phone shipped to you, but are also getting a monthly account with your cell phone carrier.

To track a specific order, go to www.whereismyorder.com. The WhereIsMyOrder.com site provides you with all the status information available for your order. You can also view and print your sales receipts and rebate forms, as well as track the delivery of your package once we release it to the shipping company.

Most approvals are received quickly, but if your carrier needs additional information before approving your service order, you will receive an email from Wirefly asking for this information on their behalf. Your order status can also be found at our customer service center.

You will receive e-mails to confirm when your cell phone has been approved and activated, and another containing your FedEx shipping details

99% of orders approved and activated by 7pm Eastern Time are shipped on the same day

  • Carrier Approval

    If your order includes a new wireless account, then your application for service is automatically submitted to the carrier you’ve chosen for approval.

    If your cell phone order includes a contract extension from your current cell phone provider, then your information is submitted to confirm that your account is eligible to receive a discount on a new cell phone.

  • Order Assembly and Testing

    Our distribution center staff selects the items you have ordered from inventory. For all cell phone activations, we physically open the box, and we use test batteries to power up the cell phone and ensure that everything is functioning as it should.

  • Cell Phone Activation

    If you have ordered a new service plan or contract extension, Wirefly then programs and schedules the activation of your new cell phone from our production line. Step-by-step instructions for completing the activation are inserted into the shipping box.

  • Transferring Your Phone Number

    If you requested to transfer your existing number to your new cell phone, we will initiate the transfer or “port” and when possible we will schedule the transfer to occur after your phone arrives. Additional information about the porting process will be included with your shipment.

  • Shipping Preparation

    Once your purchase is ready for packaging, Wirefly’s trained warehouse staff carefully packs your order and passes it on to our Quality Assurance team which re-scans each cell phone and accessory to ensure that your order is complete.

  • Shipped

    Wirefly ships your order via FedEx based on the shipping preferences you selected when you placed your order. If you selected 2nd business day delivery, your order will arrive within 2 business days of the ship date. If you selected next business day delivery, your order will arrive within 1 business day of the ship date. You can track the status of your delivery via the FedEx site.

    For your security, FedEx may require a signature at time of delivery. If nobody is available to receive the package, the driver may leave a slip that you can sign to allow delivery without a signature.

  • Hello, I have a question. I am in T-mobile. I already have a data plan with my phone right now. If I buy a new smart phone, I can just keep my data plan right now right? All I have to do is pay for the phone. Then my phone company will charge me an upgrade fee, but other than that my monthly would stay the same right?

    Hi, I recently upgraded one of my phones, it was my daughters. After ordering I decided to keep the new phone for my number and pass my old phone to her. Will this be a problem or do I just need to put my sim card in the new phone? and let her put her card in my old phone?

      It can be a problem. I would recommend call in to our customer service center to make sure what phone number you ordered that phone on and to talk to them about what numbers you want on each phone. You can reach them at 1-800-552-9000.

    Okay, I’m confused… when you buy a phone thats for $79.00 thats all you’re paying for? Until the next month & you have to pay your bill?

    • Hi Sarah921,
      You are correct. You purchase the phone that you want for the price listed on Wirefly.com and then you receive a bill for the services that you selected with the phone(IE. minutes, data, and text messaging) from the carrier a few weeks later. If you have service now you can just upgrade your current phone and select to keep your current services or get different ones unless a data plan is required on the phone you select.         Ohkay i have boost and i want a spring phone, So all i have to do is select new contract & purchase the phone & pay the monthly bill? But when i get the phone is it already activated?

          When you receive your new phone, it will be activated and ready to go if you get a new number. If you are porting your number from Boost you will follow a few quick and easy steps that come in the box with the phone and you will be active in a few minutes. The reason for that is so we don’t turn off your old phone before you receive your new phone.

    • Sarah, you have it just about right. When you buy a phone from Wirefly, you pay the cost of the phone and any taxes your state requires. You will also pay the first month’s device protection fee if you decide to get that. (That’s optional, so you don’t have to get it.) All other costs are billed by the carrier, such as an activation fee and the monthly service fee.

      As far as Wirefly is concerned, all you pay is the cost of the device, appropriate taxes and device protection if you decide to get it.

    I bought a phone but wirefly messed up my bill I asked for an upgrade and they gave me another account. This made my bill sky rocket and also the bill is way more expensive than it should be. basically I dont want this phone anymore if this is what I have to go through. And I dont want to hear any crap about go to Verizon because it is a mistake that you made not them and I want it solved IMMEDIANTLY!

    I was not able to get my confirmation number–I oredered the Samsung Gravity and my cell #817-xxx-yyyy is the main number on my T-Mobile account but I upgraded the other line #682-xxx-yyyy. I was needing to get my confirmation number and the amount that will be charged to my credit card…Can you help me???

    • Vickie, your order/confirmation number is 420022062 and the total charge will be $7.99. (That was for shipping, so I assume you chose something other than our standard shipping.) Your phone ships today: Friday, March 23. I scrambled the phone numbers in your message so that they are not public.

    Hi I dont have a credit card right now and was trying to see if it was any way i can get my deposit to you all.

    • Britney, Wirefly requires a deposit from a credit card or debit card. It can’t be a pre-paid card, and we do not accept cash or checks. If you do not have a credit card, we *may* be able to use the credit card of a friend or relative, but we can’t always do this. If you know someone who is willing to let you use his/her credit card, go ahead and order the phone through Wirefly. This will trigger a verification phone call, where we will confirm exactly what is happening in this transaction. This sometimes works in situations where you use someone else’s credit card, but not always.

      This process is true for both pre-paid and post-paid phones from Wirefly, because even pre-paid phones require that we verify you are who you say you are. Buying with a credit card is one of the best ways to confirm you are who you say you are.

    I put the wrondg shipping address on my order – what do I do?

    • Cornelius, we have you in our system and the shipment is in fact being held up because of the address problem. You need to call Wirefly at 888-843-2485 to correct the address. Keep in mind that Wirefly (and nearly every other Internet seller) ships only to the address that’s on the credit card account. If your credit card has a different address than the address where you want the item shipped, then it will probably not go through.

    • Rafe, some form of government identification is required by the carriers (Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile) to do a credit check and sell you the phone. It can be a driver’s license, but it could be some other form of state identification. To be sure, give Wirefly a call at 866-852-3216.

    • Samuel, I checked on your order and you first need to call T-Mobile to make sure your account is in order. At the moment, T-Mobile shows a balance due on your account, so you need to clear that up before your phone can be shipped. The number to call for T-Mobile is 800-937-8997.

The bottom line is that you probably will not be able to order through Wirefly. Your best bet will be to order directly from the carrier (Verizon in your case, I think).

  • Do charges show up on my credit card statement as CELL SHOP? I got a fraudulent charge on my statement and that name showed up, along with a number that directs me to whereismyorder.com, which upon further research brought me here. I see in previous comments you no longer use whereismyorder.com though, so any clue what this could be?

    • Mike, orders from Wirefly show up on your credit card bill as “Cell Stores.” If you see a charge called “Cell Shop,” that is not Wirefly. And your understanding is correct about whereismyorder.com… Wirefly no longer uses whereismyorder.com.

      If you don’t know what the “Cell Shop” order is, you should contact your credit card company and dispute the charge. It’s not hard to do and it works very well. I’ve disputed charges myself several times and it always worked out for me.

    • Vicki, it looks like there is a problem with your credit card billing address. The billing address for your credit card is not the same as the shipping address for the orders, and that will need to be fixed for the order to be approved. Please contact your bank to update your billing address. Wirefly will only ship to an address that matches the credit card’s billing address.

    • Ken, there are a couple different ways to cancel an order. The simple way is to call 866-852-3216 and speak to an agent. Describe what you want to do and it will be done.

    • Niqua, Wirefly will hold your order for a couple of days. If we get a release from Verizon, we will ship the order in the next couple of days. If it goes longer than that, we will cancel the order and you will have to re-order.

      Wirefly no longer uses “Whereismyorder” and instead suggests that you go to Wirefly.com and click on the black “Customer Support” link near the top right. (Click here to go to that page.) Fill out your e-mail and order number there, and it will tell you the status of your order. In this case, it will tell you that you need to call Verizon.
