We are currently proud to announce that we are offering a scholarship to incoming college freshman, graduate students and current undergraduate college students, with two winners chosen per academic year.
Every team member at Wirefly understands the importance of education, so the Wirefly.com Scholarship is our way of giving back to dedicated students. The cost of higher education is rising every year, and we want to give students a chance to reduce the financial burden that comes with new textbooks, tuition, on-campus housing, food, and all other costs associated with attending university. Our scholarship is offered once per year, to two separate winners each Fall.
In order to be considered for the scholarship, please submit an essay (between 800 and 1100 words in length) explaining how the invention, adoption, and widespread usage of cell phones has affected our society. You can touch on technological factors, social, interpersonal, economic, or any other aspects of life and society you think has been impacted by mobile phones.
There will be two winners per each scholarship term. The winners will be determined by our panel of seasoned technology journalists at our sole discretion, and all submissions will be judged on the quality of the content, the amount of insightful research, fresh insight, and original ideas that the essay offers. The scholarship winners will receive the following dollar amounts to put towards their education:
The scholarship winners for the current scholarship term will be announced on September 15th, 2018 via our website and associated social media profiles (Facebook and Twitter). The scholarship grant checks will be mailed within 10 days of the winners being announced. Proof of current college enrollment or an acceptance letter will be required before the scholarship will be awarded.
Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.
Any incoming college freshman, graduate student, or current undergraduate college students is eligible for this scholarship. Applicants must be or will be enrolled in an accredited college or university, and will be required to submit either a current college transcript or a college acceptance letter if chosen as a scholarship finalist.
Be advised: You may only submit one application per scholarship period, and previous winners of the Wirefly scholarship are not eligible to receive additional scholarships.
Application Submission Deadline: September 1st, 2018
Winners Notified and Announced: September 15th, 2018
To be considered for the scholarship, your application must be submitted between May 20th, 2018 and September 1st, 2018 and will be reviewed and judged during the two weeks following the submission deadline. Scholarship winners will be contacted by email after the two-week application and essay review period.
The Fine Print
Applicants must meet all criteria in order to be considered for this scholarship. An eligible participant for the scholarship must be a legal resident of (and is physically located or resides in) the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and all U.S. territories and possessions. The applicant must be an incoming freshman or a current college student, and proof of verification of enrollment at this respective accredited post-secondary institution will be required if selected as a finalist. The awards are one-time only and not renewable.

Scholarship money can be used for the following education-related expenses: tuition, textbooks, on-campus housing or meal plans, and any other college-related fees.
Wirefly does not use the personal information or content of the submissions for any purpose other than to select the scholarship recipients.
