There is nothing worse than when Netflix won’t load on your iPad or your iPhone. It’s especially aggravating when you have a new show or latest season of a show to watch and nothing will work. The following tips and tricks will get Netflix back up so that you can watch your show. We’ll also go over how to permanently fix this common problem
Since iPads and iPhones are designed to be on constantly, there is usually a lot of applications running in the background. So the first thing to do when experiencing a Netflix streaming problem is to restart the iPad entirely. The same goes for an iPhone or any other device that isn’t working properly. A restart will give any applications that are running a chance to refresh. Plus, it will resolve any little software glitches that might be causing the problem.
An iPad or iPhone is reset by pressing down and holding the Power Button. After a few seconds, the screen will change and ask if you want to turn or power off the device. Slide the icon where indicated to the right. At this point, the screen will go black. But be sure to wait for the indicator wheel to come on and disappear before completing the next step.
After the iPad or iPhone is completely off, wait a few seconds before pressing and holding the power button again. When the Apple logo appears, remove your finger and return to Netflix.

Sometimes, the Netflix app may experience a glitch while it’s running. This can lead to content refusing to stream or the app freezes up entirely. Restarting the app stops whatever problem has occurred and lets you reload to resume what you are watching.
To restart Netflix or any other app on your iPad or iPhone, click on the Home Button twice in rapid succession. The material on the screen will push back and reveal the app switcher, swipe to the left to locate Netflix and swipe up to close it.
Most people watch Netflix using their Wi-Fi. Wireless connections can be notorious for causing application problems. This includes issues while streaming Netflix content. So check your Wi-Fi connection next. It’s possible the connection is bad due to where you’re located or something is happening with your service.
To determine which problem you’re having, check your Wi-Fi. This can be done by going to the settings and checking if you’re connected. If so, turn the switch on and off. In recent versions of iOS, this can also be done using the control center. Simply swipe up from the bottom and tap the Wi-Fi icon, second from the left, off and then on again.
Toggling the Wi-Fi on and off does not always solve the problem though. So if it doesn't, you may have to try forgetting the network. Anytime an iPad or iPhone connects to a network, it saves or remembers that network. But if anything changes with the connection or with the network itself, the connection might not work. So it might need to be forgotten.
Open Settings, hit Wi-Fi and look at the menu of networks displayed on the right side. Tap the information button next to it. On the next screen, tap Forget Network. Then tap the back. On the main Wi-Fi settings screen, tap Join Network for your network and enter the password if need.

A pending software or app update can also cause Netflix streaming issues on the iPad or iPhone. This is due to problems that may have developed in the software or app. Sometimes new features are added or security is upgraded. These updates may solve any issues with Netflix.
To check for app updates, visit the App Store and tap Updates. This is on the bottom and is the last option on the right. Tap Update All to update every app and wait for the updates to install or choose the one you want from the list.
Installing an app update can be done in the Settings app. The software update is available by tapping General and then Software Update. Tap Install Now to update.
Note: Ensure that your iPad or iPhone is charging or above 50% before installing a software update. Otherwise, it won’t install.
Reinstalling Netflix on your iPad or iPhone is another way to fix any issues with the program, especially if it is subject to crashing. Taking off the app and reinstalling it should fix any files that have been corrupted inside of it. It allows you to start fresh too.
If you do decide to delete the app and reinstall it, Netflix won’t be deleted from your app store purchase list nor will it close your Netflix account.
Deleting Netflix or any other app on your iPad or iPhone is simple. Press down and hold the Netflix icon. It will begin to move along with all of the other icons on the screen. Hit the X on the left side of the icon. iOS will ask you to confirm the action. Press Delete and go back to the App Store. Netflix will be available in the past purchases list or you can simply search for it.
In order to operate, Netflix uses huge servers across the world to stream content. Sometimes these servers go down without warning or simply need routine maintenance. This means that the iPad and iPhone apps won’t be able to access any content. The “Is it Down?” section of the Netflix’s website help center will give you the latest updates.
Reset all settings is the final way to resolve any problems on your iPad or iPhone. Apple doesn't offer a simple method on the device to reinstall iOS. This section covers a way to reset all of the settings on your device so that you can get back to watching! All settings including saved Wi-Fi networks and your set wallpaper will be erased or changed to a default.
This should only be done if you’re experiencing multiple problems with the iPad or iPhone such as consistently crashing apps are an example. Resetting the device can be completed from the Settings app. Open it and go to General, then Reset. Then tap Reset All Settings.
