T-Mobile recently launched a new program called Protection 360 (sometimes spelled Protection<360>.) It is a more comprehensive program than the cell phone provider has ever offered before. The program is a comprehensive device protection program, designed to protect the data on a user's cell phone as well as the phone itself. For a monthly fee, the company will provide this protection.
Protection 360 is extended to the physical condition of a phone. If the phone is stolen, lost or accidentally damaged, users will get a replacement phone in the event the damage can't be fixed. Any type of breakdown in a phone's software is also covered. In addition, no matter how many times the screen protector breaks, it will be replaced at no charge. Additional coverage, called AppleCare Services, is offered to Apple users who have a qualifying device. As part of the protection program, customers get access to the McAfee Security app that covers users in the event their identity is stolen.
A customer that needs to file a claim has three options for doing so. They can call a toll free number, use the self-service tech app or file online. However, these options are only available to customers who signed up for a protection plan with T-Mobile after August 26, 2018. The protection plan offered before that date is no longer an option for T-Mobile Customers.
For those who can file, certain information needs to be included in the claim. Customers must provide their user ID and password for the T-Mobile website. In some cases, the company may also require proof of photo ID.
Customers are also required to provide the IMEI, make and model number of their particular phone. In addition, T-Mobile needs to know the details of whether a customer's phone is broken or lost/stolen.
It is also necessary for customers to provide accurate shipping information so they can receive their new device. Payment information must also be provided because a deductible or service fee is usually charged.
Enrollment in Protection 360 is limited to new customers for the most part. New customers that wish to enroll should do so within the first 30 days after they purchase their T-Mobile phone. Open enrollment periods are occasionally offered, in which others can sign up for the program as well, as long as they are buying a new device or upgrading one they already have. Note that T-Mobile customers with a prepaid plan are not eligible for Protection 360.
The McAfee Security app users can download to their phone offers a few protection services. It can remotely provide a phone's location in the event the phone is misplaced or stolen. It also protects the data on a user's phone and helps them manage their passwords. The app can even optimize a device's battery.
The ID protection that is built into the McAfee Security app uses its data exposure reputation feature to ensure that apps on a user's phone don't invade their privacy. It also checks every URL typed into the device to make sure the URL is safe and legitimate.
If the protection finds an app that poses a threat to a user's device, it will automatically delete the offending app. In addition, it informs users if an app they have is accessing their personal information. And when a customer is searching for a Wi-Fi spot, this protection ensures the device does not connect to unsecured connections without the user's consent.
In the event a user loses their wallet, they will be able to easily cancel any cards they had and get new ones issued. Also included is an ID Restoration Service run by qualified agents. Each agent has the ability to help a user get back their identity if someone else is found to be using it
Users with as many as 10 devices registered to T-Mobile can get McAfee Security on all of them, provided the devices are covered. The list of covered devices includes Android and Apple phones and tablets, as well as both Macintosh and PCs.
