One can say that Alcatel certainly had made the most out of its participation in this year’s Mobile World Congress event. Indeed, during the world’s biggest annual tech show dedicated to mobile, Alcatel had taken the opportunity to formally introduce no less than seven new smartphone devices, and as expected, these handsets were of the budget friendly kind. Two of the new phones unveiled by the phone maker included the Alcatel 1X and the Alcatel 3V, and it appears that these devices will be released in the United States mobile market some time later this year.
The Alcatel 1X had generated some buzz a couple of weeks ago, due to the fact that it comes preloaded with Android Oreo (Go Edition), or Android Go for short, which is basically a simpler and more light weight version of Google’s super popular mobile operating system. When it launches, it is quite possible that the smartphone will go down in history as one of the first few Android Go powered handsets to ever hit store shelves in America.
As far as specifications are concerned, Alcatel’s 1X smartphone does offer some interesting features and functionalities, at least for its affordable price. It is equipped with a 5.3 inch display screen, which makes the model the first ever budget friendly handset to come with an aspect ratio of 18 to 9 (at a resolution of 960 by 480 pixels). With regards to other specs, the Alcatel 1X also offers a four core MediaTek chip set, aided with 1 gigabyte of random access memory (RAM), as well as 16 gigabytes of built in memory.
Sure, the specs mentioned in the preceding paragraph are rather modest, but when you consider that the Alcatel 1X will likely launch with a price under a hundred bucks, one can argue that it is not a bad deal at all.
Now for the Alcatel 3V -- the device is one of a quarter of smartphones belonging to the newly unveiled Alcatel 3 lineup of handsets (the other three are the Alcatel 3, the Alcatel 3C, and the Alcatel 3X). All of these new models are fitted with a display screen that features an 18 to 9 aspect ratio (like the Alcatel 1X mentioned earlier).
As for the Alcatel 3V, it rocks a few cool features like Face Key (Alcatel’s answer to the iPhone X’s Face ID tech and the Galaxy S9’s Intelligent Scan feature), a fingerprint reader, and an HD display screen. Along with the Alcatel 3, the Alcatel 3V will ship preinstalled with Android 8.0 Oreo (unlike the other three which are preloaded with Android Nougat).
