Some may already be familiar with the Keepsafe brand name -- it is after all the same name used on a private photography app. The company behind the brand, however, is aggressively expanding its existing range of services, and is now taking the opportunity to officially unveil the Keepsafe mobile web browser.
Like most of the company’s lineup of services (which also includes a private phone number generator and a VPN mobile app), the Keepsafe mobile web browser is designed to focus on protecting the user’s privacy. And as pointed out by Zouhair Belkoura, the chief executive officer and co-founder of Keepsafe, it is a top priority for the firm to marry privacy protection with simplicity and ease of use.
When it comes to privacy related features, the new Keepsafe mobile web browser does offer some interesting and useful functionalities. For instance, the web browser itself can be kept safe by way of a PIN (personal identification number) code, plus offering full support for Touch ID, Face ID, and Android Fingerprint. The company has also made sure to offer a set of privacy controls, which allows users to better manage their privacy preferences, i.e. whether or not to store cookies and URLs locally to be able to get back to previously browsed web pages or stay logged into specific websites.
To make things simpler, Keepsafe’s web browser features normal white colored tabs for storing cookies, caching and URLs locally. For Android mobile users, they can choose to clear this browsing history. Then there are secret tabs (which are displayed as purple tabs on Apple handsets), which forget session data like cookies, caching and URLs when closed. This new mobile web browser from Keepsafe also promises boosted data security in the form of ad tracker blockers, which ward off ad, social media, analytic, and content trackers.
In this day and age, people are now more conscious of protecting their privacy, and quite a number of developers have started to pick up on this. More than a month ago, there were reports that Google’s YouTube was beginning to conduct testing for an incognito mode. And before that, Firefox had also introduced updates to its mobile app for iOS powered devices, including adding a default tracking protection feature in both normal and private web browsing sessions. And some may remember that around seven months ago, Mozilla had released the spin off app Firefox Focus, which focuses on safe Internet surfing.
