It appears that iOS users are not the only ones getting a software update on their mobile operating systems. Windows Phone users will be joining in on the fun, too. That is because Microsoft is now pushing a new software update for all users who signed up for the Windows Phone 8.1 Preview for Developers program.
As revealed in Windows's blog, the software update will help set up Preview for Developers enrollees in order to build Version 8.10.14176 of the Windows Phone mobile operating system.
The update will consist of several system and processing improvements as well as some bug fixes, specifically a fix for the 80188308 error encountered by some users when updating. Microsoft has stated that the bug was caused by insufficient storage space on the part of the device's system partition when booting up.
The folks at Microsoft are also saying that this software update will initiate Windows Phone 8.1 updates for HTC's Windows Phone 8X, 8XT, 8S, and HTC One (M8) for Windows devices.
Furthermore, users of Nokia Lumia handsets should be able to get the Lumia Cyan software update anytime soon. It has been confirmed that the AT&T Lumia 920 and Lumia 925 can now receive Lumia Cyan updates if those devices are already on 8.1.1.
Lumia users based in countries outside the United States may also start receiving the updates, but the devices covered by the update may vary depending on the carrier and region. As for other devices running on Windows Phone, they will be getting their updates in the coming few weeks.
All in all, the new update for the Windows Phone 8.1 Preview for Developers should benefit those enrolled in the program and then some. With the Lumia Cyan update, more Nokia Lumia users will also get to have some fun. As for HTC users, they will have their share of new updates to experience for themselves.
