Sprint and Verizon Wireless are showing that they too can play that game.
On the wake of AT&T's double-data promo launch, Sprint has announced today that it is also launching a double-date offer of their own, one that promises to one-up the offer made by AT&T days earlier. In Sprint's promo, subscribers can enjoy 60 gigabytes of shareable data for a monthly charge of $130.00. The 60-gigabyte data usage is easily twice that of AT&T's double-data offer which comes at the same price.
Not to be left out, Verizon is also joining in on the double-data fun. Immediately after Sprint's announcement, Verizon made an announcement of its own, revealing that it is doubling the data on its More Everything shared data plans for all subscribers who sign up from October 2nd to October 31st. With this offer, users can now get 15 gigabytes (upgraded from 12 gigabytes) for $110.00 per month, and 30 gigabytes (from 16 gigabytes) for $130.00. That should compete with AT&T's promo, but compared to Sprint's, it still offers less data, plus users have to pay a monthly access fee for each device added to the Verizon pack.
As for Sprint's offer, the monthly access fees per device are waived through 2015, making its promo one of the most budget-friendly plans available out there. The waived monthly access fees will only apply to users who purchase new devices from Sprint via installment payment programs such as iPhone For Life or Easy Pay. Also, they must not be current Sprint subscribers. If they avail of Sprint's promo, they could end up paying only $30.00 monthly for a smartphone that comes with 15 gigabytes of data use (in a group consisting of 4 people).
Consider this scenario: For a device like the Samsung Galaxy S5, you would pay $130.00 for 60 gigabytes of shareable data, plus a monthly fee of $27.00. If you are part of a 4-man group, every person would pay $32.50 ($130.00 divided by 4) for 15 gigabytes of data. If you put the cost of the handset on top of that, you would only be shelling out $60.00 per month for a top-quality device with a generous 15 gigabytes of data.
That is not all. Sprint's promo allows users to add more people to the group. As a matter of fact, one can invite up to 10 friends to join the shared plan, which would bring your monthly fee down to only $13.00. Those who want more bandwidth, they can opt to get 80 gigabytes (up from 40 gigabytes) for a monthly $150.00, or 120 gigabytes (from 60 gigabytes) for $225.00 every month.
