Starbucks has just made it easier for you to send a coffee to cheer up a friend or a loved one. Earlier today, the coffee giant announced that they have updated its iOS mobile app to include a new iMessages feature. As announced, the new feature will enable people to send someone a cup of coffee in a very quick and easy way. While you are chatting with someone by way of the app, you can simply send a Starbucks gift card without having to worry about interrupting your conversation.
Apart from the functionality of being able to send out gift cards, the newly updated app now comes with enhanced push notifications, a filtering option to locate a nearby Starbucks location, and finally, a new mobile ordering interface. As discussed in a previous article posted about a week ago, Starbucks tested out this mobile ordering system last week. The company tested this system by transforming one of its internal cafes into a mobile only location (all mobile orders made by the employees from the building will be routed to the new location). Even though Starbucks has already implemented a mobile ordering system, it recently decided to change things up a bit as a way to speed up the process. Thus, they experimented with a mobile only location.
By creating a mobile only location, Starbucks will be able to better accommodate the needs of their customers who want a grab and go solution for their cup of coffee. They no longer have to line up with other walk in customers so they can get their cup of coffee. Since this new mobile ordering system has been included in Starbucks recent update to its iOS app, it could be a clear indication that the mobile only location test was a success.
This is not the first time Starbucks introduced its iMessage app. As a matter of fact, this feature was added back in September of last year when the coffee giant made it possible for users to play games and add stickers in an in-app conversation. In addition to this, the coffee retailer partnered with Microsoft Outlook last year to make it easy to send a cup of coffee or even have a meeting scheduled at a local Starbucks location through the email app.
You can check out Starbucks newly updated app and begin to see the features implemented as it is now available in the App Store.
