Apple will be increasing the prices for apps in some countries. In addition to this, it will be re-adjusting the price cut on developers’ rates in other countries.
According to GSM Arena, apps will become more expensive in Zimbabwe, Ukraine, and Bahrain. This is because the VAT has been increased in these countries. Ukraine has increased VAT to 20% while Bahrain has increased it to 10%. Zimbabwe users will also have to pay 5% more prices because of the newly implemented digital service tax.
Oman is another country that has increased its VAT by 5%. But the price for apps in this country will remain unchanged. This is because Apple will instead be adjusting the cut of developers to offset the changes. This will also be applied in The Bahamas and Tajikistan.
In Austria, Latvia, and Romania, however, the price for e-books and audiobooks has changed. The VAT for Austria will go up to 10% for such items. Meanwhile, the VAT for e-books and audiobooks in Latvia and Romania will be lowered to 5% from 21 and 19.
Apple says that it will leave the decision to developers offering apps in the last six countries whether they wish to adjust their prices.
