It’s been a while since an update was given on AT&T and Verizon Wireless’ compliance to the request of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding its 5G buildout on C-Band frequencies around airports. And with the deadline for the buildout fast approaching, the two wireless carriers need to make necessary adjustments to accommodate the request. Thankfully, the two have sent a memo to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that addresses the request.
As reported by PhoneArena, the two expressed their voluntary interest to commit to the FAA’s rules and regulations. In doing so, they will be able to fully deploy their mid-band 5G networks in these locations.
The new memo says:
“These voluntary commitments will support full-power deployments across C-band, and are crafted to minimize the operational impact on our C-band operations.”
The wireless carriers have continuously worked with both the FAA and FCC. They have adjusted their antenna locations, signal strength, and direction so that the potential points of interference could be avoided.
With the “voluntary commitment” on Verizon and AT&T’s part, hopefully they will be able to move forward with their full-scale C-band 5G network deployment.
“C-band wireless operations and aviation can safely co-exist, something that’s been proven in the US and around the globe,” Verizon said.
