Finnish company, Bittium, has just unveiled its latest smartphone product called the Bittium Tough Mobile 2. The device, tagged as “the world’s most secure smartphone”, promises to be a suitable smartphone for personal and professional use.
Compared to other Android devices, the Tough Mobile 2 contains a “multilayered security structure”. Bittium promises its information security features and software have been integrated into its source code, ensuring that data stored in both device and data transfers remain protected at all times.
The Tough Mobile 2 is equipped with authentication, key management related features, and several encryption. It also has a tamper-proof information security platform, boot and runtime security checks. There is also a privacy mode, which disables cameras, microphones, and Bluetooth with just a touch of a button. This feature also reduces sensory accuracy. To improve the security, Bittium has made the Tough Mobile 2 compatible with its Bittium Secure Suite software. This software allows remote phone management and their encrypted data transfers.
Apart from its security features, the Tough Mobile 2 comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD touchscreen display. Bittium has allowed the display to function while it’s wet and when the user is wearing gloves. Other features include a Snapdragon 670 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage with a microSD card slot for memory expansion, a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, 5-megapixel selfie sensor, dual-band Wi-Fi, dual front-facing speakers, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC. The device also comes with IP67 certification for water and dust resistance. For shock and drop resistance, the Tough Mobile 2 is MIL-STD-810G compliant. The phone also includes dual-SIM functionality and a 3,000mAh battery. There are dedicated buttons for push-to-talk, Emergency, and Privacy mode. Upon release, the phone runs on Android 9 Pie.
Bittium has made the Tough Mobile 2 compatible with all LTE bands used by AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon. Pricing starts at €1550 or $1725.
