Earlier today, Boost Mobile revealed that it is getting close to reaching the FCC’s requirement by the end of the year. In addition to this announcement, the MNO has unveiled a new branded 5G smartphone called the Summit 5G.
This smartphone is similar to the Boost Celero5G SC, which was previously the brand’s most affordable 5G device. There are a few changes on the Summit 5G, considering it’s a newer model. But this doesn’t necessarily mean the device was upgraded. Case in point: the Summit 5G comes with a 13-megapixel camera while the Celero5G SC has a 50-megapixel camera.
The two devices share the same 6.6-inch display, 5,000mAh battery, MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ processor, 64GB onboard storage with microSD card memory expansion, 4GB of RAM, a fingerprint reader, and a headset jack.
The two devices were also manufactured by Coosea, which is also the same manufacturer of Cricket’s branded devices.
Because of the difference in their cameras, the Summit 5G has dethroned the Celero5G SC as the most affordable 5G device offered by Boost. The new smartphone is priced at $95, with a promotion for Boost customers. Existing customers can get the phone at $20, while new customers can get it for free.
