Good news to all Verizon customers! Big Red now supports eSIM.
It was only a few weeks ago when Verizon revealed that its prepaid brand, Visible, has started supporting eSIM. And now, Big Red is ready to do the same.
This is a huge advantage to customers since they no longer have to wait for a physical SIM card before you can start using your device.
The announcement, made over a tweet, shares some important information. For starters, the feature is only available to those who bring their own device (BYOD). This means that eSIM is not yet available on devices bought from Verizon. And obviously, your phone must support eSIM.
In addition to that, Verizon’s eSIM program also needs to support your phone. You will need to check this out first before you purchase an eSIM-capable device. Simply put, there are devices that support eSIM but are not supported by Verizon. The initial list of these phones are:
Apple iPhone 11 series
Apple iPhone 12 series
Apple iPhone 13 series
Google Pixel 4a
Google Pixel 4a 5G UW
Google Pixel 5
Google Pixel 6
Google Pixel 6 Pro
Samsung Galaxy S21
Samsung Galaxy S21+
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra
Hopefully, Verizon adds more devices to the list that they’ll support.
