Earlier today, former Boost Mobile founder, Peter Adderton, announced something big for the mobile industry. His company, Mobile X Global, revealed that they have inked a new network partnership with Verizon Wireless for its MobileX mobile brand.
According to the announcement, the new mobile brand will make its debut in the US next year. Through the partnership, MobileX will be able “to deliver personalized services and individualized plans for wireless customers.”
The revelation showed that MobileX will be powered by a new and proprietary cloud-based A.I. platform called XO.1. And unlike other wireless carriers and MVNOs, MobileX will not create rate plans for customers to choose. Instead, each customer will be getting his own personalized plan based on his usage. This is, of course, because of the XO.1 platform that Mobile X Global has developed.
Through XO.1, customers only have to pay for the data they use and need. They won’t need to be locked into an unlimited plan when they don’t really need one. Another feature of the platform is that it will give customers an option to switch across global networks using the same number and service. They can continue using their device when they travel and not have to worry about data roaming charges.
The release shares that the platform will “link with Verizon Network as a Service (NaaS) to provide a flexible, secure, programmable, scalable, and reliable service in a more agile, resilient and cloud-centric way than traditional network infrastructures.”
In his announcement, Adderton stressed that MobileX is more than just an MVNO. Instead, they are building a connectivity as a service (CAAS) platform with XO.1.
Right now, there are a lot of questions surrounding this product. There has also not been any report on whether this service will offer phones or be available as prepaid or postpaid service. But Adderton already tweeted renders of its MobileX storefronts. And if you’d like to learn more about the service, you can visit their website.
MobileX is said to launch in the country in the first half of 2022.
