Google Fi has rolled out new updates to its plans. Starting today, subscribers can stay connected while traveling internationally.
The first announcement made by the MVNO is that they have tripled their international 5G network coverage by adding service in 26 more countries. This means that customers on a Flexible or Unlimited Plus plan using a compatible Pixel or Samsung Galaxy S22 device can continue using Fi’s service in a total of 39 countries.
The full list of countries included in this rollout can be found here.
Another update that Google Fi made for iPhone users is the option to use their device as a hotspot abroad.
This was previously exclusively available on Android devices with Flexible and Unlimited Plus plans. With today’s announcement, iPhone users can use their device as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot with no extra setup required.
Lastly, you can now make Wi-Fi calls on your iPhone. This is another feature that was exclusively available on Android devices. But now, Google Fi is making this service available to both Android and iPhone users.
If Wi-Fi and cellular network is available, Fi will route your call to whichever option gives the best connection. If you’re traveling overseas, this can help reduce calling costs.
You can read more about these updates here.
