Last month, Google Fi changed its name to Google Fi Wireless. Following its rebranding, the MVNO has released an update to its mobile app with a new design that gives its customers an easier way of managing their family Fi subscription. They also teased the new app redesign last month by releasing a short animation that showed the app’s new features.
The app also comes with new capabilities, such as setting data limitations, adding new people to the plan, and checking how much data has been used by each family member. The app also comes with parental controls so that minors can be protected from getting added to a plan.
The updated app now comes with a “Cycle ends” timer on the top right portion of the display which alerts you when it’s time for your plan to reset. Underneath this timer, you’ll see a letter avatar of each member on your plan so you can check on their individual usage. There is also a Group avatar where you can check the plan highlights, offers, and deals that you may be interested in.
The new family dashboard features Material You UI. If you don’t have an Unlimited plan, your account will show your data consumption on your Overall and Daily views.
One interesting feature added to the app update is the option to silence unknown callers and to choose to receive calls or texts from your phone contacts.
