Google has introduced a Bluetooth diagnostics feature to its Pixel smartphone lineup through an update to the Pixel Troubleshooting app. The new functionality allows users to run diagnostic tests on paired Bluetooth devices to identify potential connectivity issues.
The feature is accessible through two pathways within the device settings. Users can navigate to Settings > Connected Devices > Bluetooth and select "Bluetooth diagnostics," or they can access it through Settings > Device health and support > Bluetooth diagnostics. Once selected, the tool provides a list of connected devices and generates diagnostic information about the Bluetooth connection status.
According to BGR, the diagnostics tool operates by testing the connection between the Pixel device and paired Bluetooth accessories. If a connected device does not appear in the list, users can select a "Can't find your device?" option to manually locate the device. After selecting a device to test, the tool runs diagnostics and provides potential solutions for common Bluetooth connectivity problems.
The feature is designed to work with various Bluetooth devices. Google has optimized the tool to highlight connections with Pixel-branded accessories such as Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a, though users can select an "Other device" option to test connections with non-Pixel Bluetooth products.
The Bluetooth diagnostics feature joins other diagnostic capabilities already available on Pixel devices. The "Device health and support" menu includes additional diagnostics tools for Touch functionality and charging performance, along with general device health information.
Similar diagnostic tools exist on other platforms. Samsung Galaxy devices offer Bluetooth diagnostics through the Samsung Members app, and Apple devices include a diagnostics mode that can be manually triggered. The Pixel Bluetooth diagnostics feature represents Google's addition to this category of built-in diagnostic utilities.
The feature is rolling out to Pixel 10 and earlier Pixel models as part of the latest Pixel Troubleshooting app update. Availability may vary depending on device model and software version.
