Back in Google I/O 2022, the search giant revealed that they are working on improving Google Wallet. The service is now ready for deployment and will be coming to Android and Wear OS devices. It will also be replacing Google Pay in the 39 countries where it will launch.
With this improved service, Google Wallet now does more than just holding your credit card information. Now, it contains other important information like IDs, boarding passes, hotel keys, loyalty cards, transit cards, vaccine cards, and many more. And of course, this is all thanks to Android developers who envisioned the feature.
Now that Google Wallet contains such important information, it is more important to keep the data inside secure. Google has protected data stored or transmitted via Google Wallet with encryption. The service is now backed by Android security features like fingerprint scanning, facial recognition, and locking with a passcode.
The improved Google Wallet is now rolling out to 39 countries. Unfortunately, users in the US will have to use both Google Pay and Google Wallet to make transactions.
