HMD Global is apparently making an inexpensive smartphone that will be the first of its kind.
The Finnish company has been focusing on manufacturing low- and mid-tier Nokia smartphones instead of competing against the high-end smartphone market. This is actually a pretty good decision for the company, especially since the flagship market is already saturated.
But despite its low- and mid-tier phones, HMD Global is producing devices that are of value. One of its upcoming entry-level devices promises to embody that promise.
According to reports, HMD Global is working on a new handset called the Nokia 1.4. Even though this is an inexpensive device, it will be equipped with a fingerprint sensor. This is a feature that is typically reserved on high-end models.
Aside from a fingerprint sensor, the Nokia 1.4 is said to be equipped with a 1.3GHz Quad-Core processor with 1GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, and a microSD card slot. It will also have a 6.5-inch HD+ display, a 4,000mAh battery, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and dual SIM support. The phone will have a dual-camera setup on the back with an 8-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel shooter. In front, there is a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. It will run Android 10 likely with the Go version once it unboxes.
The report shares that this device will be priced at $100. A release date has not yet been announced.
