If you're still using an LG smartphone, it's time to act fast. LG has announced that it will officially shut down its Android update servers on June 30, 2025, as spotted by Android Authority. After this date, users will no longer be able to download software updates, including critical security patches.
Back in 2021, LG exited the smartphone market but committed to providing three years of Android updates for its premium devices released in 2019 and later, such as the LG Velvet, Wing, and the G and V series. This included upgrades up to Android 12 or 13, depending on the model.
While LG extended support beyond its initial promise, the upcoming shutdown marks the end of official software support. Your LG phone will still function, but it won't receive any future updates or security fixes.
In addition to the update servers, LG's PC software, LG Bridge—which facilitates data transfers, backups, and device restoration—will also be discontinued on June 30. This means users will lose access to these tools for managing their devices.
Don't wait until it's too late. Ensure your LG device is up-to-date and your data is backed up before the June 30 deadline.
