Carl Pei’s Nothing brand is expected to release its first ever handset soon. And today, we just received word that it will be releasing the phone in summer.
The company is scheduled to host a livestream entitled “The Truth,” where the Phone 1 is expected to be discussed. But details about the anticipated device have already been shared ahead of the event.
One of the things we can expect from the Phone 1 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, which will operate on Nothing OS. The company says that its own OS is a modified Android version that “captures the best benefits” while limiting it to “just the essentials.” The phone manufacturer promised that the OS will provide a fast and smooth experience with “bespoke” design, colors, and fonts.
To give the public a look into its OS, Nothing promised to release a launcher on select Android phones in April.
“This is the start of an open and diverse product ecosystem that gives people real choice,” Pei said. “We’re building the most compelling alternative to Apple.”
Pei promises to reveal more information about the Phone 1 in the coming months.
