Just before it turns three, Realme hosted a 5G summit together with the GSM Association, Qualcomm, and Counterpoint Research.
During the keynote summit, the company outlined its plans to make 5G connectivity accessible to users throughout the world. And one way it intends to do that is by expanding its 5G offerings by 70% across 50 markets by 2022. By doing so, the company hopes to reach 100 million active 5G smartphone users by 2024.
In the next couple of years, Realme plans to dedicate up to 90% of its Research & Development resources to 5G product development. This equates to around $300 million in funding. The company will be setting up a total of seven 5G R&D centers throughout Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe.
While making sure that they are able to achieve this goal, Realme plans to continue focusing on manufacturing affordable 5G devices. Their goal is to eventually come up with a 5G device that will only cost $100. The smartphone manufacturer will be debuting a couple of flagship devices under its GT series later this month and in July.
