AT&T is reportedly working on an add-on feature that will allow subscribers to get priority access to its network.
As spotted on Reddit, there are references to this new AT&T add-on feature called AT&T Turbo. While the feature is not yet live, the wireless carrier says that it would “provide uninterrupted network speeds during peak traffic times.”
As shared by Android Authority, AT&T subscribers who need to have priority network access during times of congestion will be able to use the add-on service. So if you’re at a concert and you’re experiencing slow connection because of the hundreds of users at the same area trying to connect to AT&T’s network, you can pay for Turbo and your internet connection will be prioritized.
After initial reports of the add-on feature were reported, the wireless carrier released a statement to CNET explaining that there was “some inaccurate language was inadvertently pushed in the notes for our app update today.”
The carrier did not go into detail what it meant by “inaccurate language.” But as the report suggests, it’s possible that they were not yet ready to reveal the add-on feature.
We’ll have to wait until AT&T reveals more information about this add-on feature.
