Google’s MVNO, Google Fi, is getting ready to offer smartwatches. And according to reports, the first smartwatch it could offer is the Pixel Watch.
The reports show that Google Fi is currently adding support for the watch. The upcoming smartwatch has been codenamed “Rohan,” which sources reveal can be purchased directly from the MVNO or added to an existing plan.
As of this writing, the Pixel Watch has not yet been unveiled. There’s no information on how much the device will cost and whether Google Fi plans to assign a number to the Pixel Watch or provide data connectivity to it. But if you plan on adding a smartwatch to your current Google Fi account, it’s possible that you could be charged extra.
Another piece of information revealed by the teardown is that customers can opt to buy insurance for the Pixel Watch via Google Fi. The good news is that you don’t have to purchase a device protection plan when you buy the device. Google will give you a grace period so you can still change your mind after buying the watch.
As an MVNO, Google Fi runs on T-Mobile and US Cellular’s LTE and 5G networks.
