The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are some of the most anticipated devices from Google. And over the past few months, there have been numerous leaks about these two devices. Today, we’re getting a new unconfirmed rumor about the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
According to the GSM Arena, these two phones are slated to receive four major Android updates and five years’ worth of security patches. The timeline, of course, starts once the two devices are officially unveiled later this month.
Considering these two phones are set to run Android 11 upon their launch, the new report reveals that they could continue receiving updates up to Android 16 in 2025. As for the security updates, future owners could get an update until October 2026.
If this report holds some truth to it, it will be the first time that Google has a long support window for its device. And it will definitely be a much welcomed change for the future device users.
But then again, this is an unconfirmed report. We’ll know for sure once Google launches the two devices later this month.
