One of the things that customers dislike about T-Mobile is that they have a Device Connection Charge (DCC) for new activations or device upgrades. It also doesn’t help that this charge costs $35 per line. But today, it looks like customers will be getting some sort of relief with this fee.
The Mobile Report obtained a leaked internal document revealing a new move that the Un-carrier is doing. For a limited period of time, it will be reducing the $35 DCC fee to $5. The reduced fee is applicable starting today, March 8, 2024. It will be applied to all activation methods done online, in-store, and via phone support.
Unfortunately, this discount is only applicable to new line activations. Phone upgrades will continue to face a $35 fee for the DCC. The leaked document also reveals that the discount is available to new lines activated via T-Mobile’s Equipment Installment plan or BYOD. The discount is also available to T-Mobile for Business customers who are adding a new line.
An end date to this discount has not yet been announced.
