Unfortunately, Samsung is the latest to fall victim to a data breach; which just proves that smartphone giants can also be affected by such issues. According to reports, some of the company’s confidential data has leaked.
This was discovered on Friday as a South American hacking group, by the name of Lapsus$, claimed responsibility for the attack. The hackers were able to access a trove of data, which it claims are from the South Korean manufacturer.
The hackers were allegedly able to access highly sensitive features, such as biometric authentication and on-device encryption. They also gained the bootloader source code for the recent Samsung models. The group also says that they were able to obtain confidential data from Qualcomm.
Overall, the hackers were able to gain access to around 190GB of data. Right now, this database is being shared in a torrent.
As of this writing, Samsung has not yet confirmed if the breach is true. The Korean Herald, says that the company is currently assessing the situation. If the claims are accurate, this could be a big hit for the manufacturer.
