Back in July, the US government warned federal government staff who were using Pixel devices to update their devices before July 4th or to stop using them. This was because there was a software flaw that exposed these devices to “under limited, targeted exploitation.” After the CVE-2024-32896 issue was addressed, the same warning is now being shared to Samsung Galaxy phone users.
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) identified two CVE listings to the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog. As shared by PhoneArena, Galaxy device users were given 21 days to update their devices or stop using them.
The previous warning given to Pixel users was thought to only affect such devices. But now, Samsung Galaxy device users face a similar warning for the August 28 deadline. This affects millions of Galaxy devices throughout the US. Even if you do not work for the federal government, it might be best that you update your device too. Otherwise, attackers could take advantage of the two identified flaws and capture personal and work-related information stored on your device.
