For the first time ever, T-Mobile earns PCMag’s top spot for its Fastest Mobile Networks report. This is a huge milestone for T-Mobile as it is the first time it earned this position in the independent study.
The Fastest Mobile Networks report is an annual study that PCMag conducts to see which carrier fits that title. For this year, PCMag analyzed the mobile carrier that offered the best 4G and 5G mobile network speeds.
Testing was done in 30 cities and 6 major rural regions across the country. Out of that number, T-Mobile won in 24 cities and rural regions. Meanwhile its rivals only had 8 wins for AT&T and 2 wins for Verizon.
The study found that T-Mobile’s 5G network is available 90% of the time or more in Chicago, Tucson, Las Vegas, New York, and Boston.
As discovered by the study, T-Mobile topped the list thanks to Sprint’s mid-band airwaves. Through its Ultra Capacity 5G network, T-Mobile was able to give its subscribers consistent download speeds between 150Mbps and 500Mbps.
The study also discovered that while Verizon’s mmWave 5G network is fastest with peak speeds of more than 2Gbps, it isn’t growing too quickly. It also isn’t as widely available compared to T-Mobile’s.
As far as 4G is concerned, AT&T is the top network. But sadly, it wasn’t able to show any remarkable improvements compared to last year’s results.
