T‑Mobile Finalizes UScellular Takeover 

If you’re a US Cellular customer, here’s some good news: you’re now officially part of the T‑Mobile family. The acquisition closed August 1, 2025, and your services, devices, and account will keep working as usual—today and beyond. 

As announced by T‑Mobile, the deal brings over four million US Cellular customers onto its nationwide 5G network. The carrier acquired stores, customer accounts, and about 30% of US Cellular’s spectrum licenses for a total of approximately $4.3 billion, including assumed debt. The transition process should complete in early August, with final figures made official by around August 5, 2025.

Here’s a simple breakdown of what’s changing—and what’s not:

• Same plan, same device; at first. Nothing changes immediately. Your phone will keep working just like before.
• More perks soon. You’ll get the option to move to an unlimited plan from T‑Mobile—packed with extras like free global roaming, streaming subscriptions, in‑flight Wi‑Fi, and device upgrade programs. Perks for seniors, first responders, and others start rolling out August 7.
• Better coverage ahead. Your phone will stop roaming into other networks in favor of being fully integrated on T‑Mobile; meaning stronger signals and faster speeds, especially in rural regions.
• What remains. US Cellular’s leftover infrastructure isn’t going away. It will become Array Digital Infrastructure Inc., which will own towers and spectrum and lease service back to T‑Mobile on a long-term deal.

Thing is, T‑Mobile says this move isn’t just about adding customers; it’s about upgrading services and expanding access. More households in rural spots will be able to sign up for T‑Mobile’s home broadband or fixed wireless products for the first time.
